March 10: Susan Barich: Poetry to Song – via ZOOM session –

Both poetry and song seek to speak to the human experience in ways prose may not. Poetry and song appeal to the emotions; prose to the intellect. Poetry gives emotions a language of their own. Assignment – If you wish, write a short piece of prose about musical memories. It would fit in nicely with other things you may be writing for yourself or your family. This can be a starter for a poem or we can polish the prose piece by using elements of song lyrics to revise our work. Send your draft to me and we can share ideas as well as enjoy the memories!  lintoren@gmail.com

  • Painting uses both the left and right side of the brain. It uses your creative and emotional side, as well as you rational and logical thinking.
  • Even in a group setting, painting is a solo activity that allows you to focus on the task at hand, leaving your worries behind, as the stress begins to melt away.

March 3: Voices session on Friday postponed due to low attendance following record snows

March 17: Jim Allday: Point of View – LIVE meeting at Calaveras Senior Center – Topic: First person or third person? We will explore how point of view can enhance your writing.

The Manzanita Arts Emporium closed its doors on Main Street in Angels Camp July 2020, DUE TO CORONAVIRUS issues and complications. We are saddened about this, but there was no other choice. We could not sustain the onslaught and financial upheaval, along with safety protocols. We are very happy at our new location in San Andreas for Manzanita Writers Press (by appointment only). We have not resumed regular activities, but check back with us regularly.

Thank you for all your support and participation at our Angels Camp location during our five-year stay there, from Oct. 2015 – July 2020. We will be getting creative with our projects, but for now, we are taking a hiatus, except for book publishing, which is going strong. We are very busy. If you have a book project you would like to complete, please call us. We would be happy to review your project proposal. See Book Publishing tab and protocol in sending us your proposal.
